In Mancheswar, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the country's first 24-hour grain ATM opened.

The Annapurti Grain ATM was unveiled on Thursday by Odisha Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Krushna Chandra Patra in the presence of Nozomi Hashimoto, Deputy Country Director of the World Food Program in India.

According to Patra, Annapurti Grain ATMs will be installed in each of the state's districts.

"Today is a historic day. They can get the rice from the machine and take it easily. It is a very easy step. This will be launched in all the districts of the state," Patra told reporters.

The minister declared that dealers would no longer be able to deny PDS beneficiaries their entitlement to food assistance as the grain ATM had been introduced. He claimed that getting grain out of the machine is an easy process.
